APEGA Member and Public Consultation Project

~ Revision to the Professional Practice Standard for the Evaluation of Oil and Gas Resources and Reserves for Public Disclosure required a series of seminars correlating the contents of the Standard with the recent amendments to other professional, financial and technical standards. While intended to provide information to Professional Members involved with resources and reserves computation and publication, the consultation opportunity was also shared with interested members of the public.

International Geoethics and the APEGA Code of Ethics – A Reconciliation

~ Presented an introductory  seminar of geoethics, its application under the APEGA Code of Ethics and relationship to the concept as advanced by the International Association for Promotion of Geoethics at the 2019 APEGA Professional Development Conference.

Geoethics 2019 – An International Code of Practice 

~ Presented a seminar held during GeoConvention 2019 to introduce geoscientists to the concepts behind geoethics and their application to geological and geophysical practice. 

Clear Hills Iron Project, Integrated field/lab/Assessment and Final reporting 

~ Designed, planned, permitted, and executed a field reconnaissance and integrated diamond drilling program in northwestern Alberta. Wrote Assessment reports, the NI43-101 final report and contributed to 2 Alberta Geological Survey reports.

Buried Facilities Locator Training and Certification Project, Petroleum Industry Training Service/Enform, Nisku, Alberta 

~ Assisted with development of a course and training materials for underground utilities locators for the geophysical industry (Canadian Association of Geophysical Contractors). 

~ Delivered a pilot course to trainers and industry personnel. 

~ Delivered the first three courses (seismic, drill site and gas utilities) for 6 years. ~Participated on the course steering committee.

Review of a Pipeline Failure Clean-up Projects, Western Site Technologies Inc., Calgary Alberta

~ Confidentially reviewed documentation and data associated with environmental damage mitigation efforts of a third party.

Mine Tailings Re-processing Project, Montauban P.Q. and Malartic-Sud, P.Q., R. Cormier and Associates, Montauban, P.Q.

 ~ Recovery of residual gold and silver from mine tailings abandoned in the early 1900’s.

FalconVistaTMSystem Development Project, Syner-Seis Technologies Inc.

~ Developed and demonstrated commercialization of a system for wireless transmission of well cuttings and core imagery from an exploration site to headquarters via the Internet.

Cavell Creek Placer Gold Project, Dale Halstead, Whitehorse Yukon Territory

~ Conducted field studies of placer and lode gold deposits on a property near Atlin, BC in support of mine planning and valuation efforts by the mine owner. 

~ Performed a placer gold property evaluation.

~ Wrote assessment reports and a NI43-101 style final report.

Abandoned Gas Station Phase 2 Site Assessment, R.M. of Paynton, Saskatchewan, Western Site Technologies Inc., Calgary Alberta 

~ Mapped site, drilled, sampled and prepared  report.

Oil Spill Clean Up Supervision, Lloydminster, Alberta, Western Site Technologies Inc., Calgary Alberta

~ Mapped site, sampled before and after excavation and disposal and prepared Phase 2 report. 

Use of Zeolite and Pozzolans for Waste Encapsulation, Western Site Technologies Inc., Calgary Alberta

~ Assessed the use of zeolite and pozzolanic substances combined with Portland cement for petroleum waste stabilization and encapsulation. This included a series of short projects and a summary report.

VLSI System-on-Chip R&D Program, Wi-Lan Inc., Calgary, Alberta

~ Managed an R&D and funding project. 

St. Charles de Bourget Magnetite/Ilmenite Deposit, R. Cormier and Associates, Quebec, PQ 

~ Planned business activities including site evaluation, assessment and financing and  for the permit holder. 

~ Designed and executed a surface sampling and diamond drill coring and assay program. 

Short Courses for Libyan Geophysicists, Western Site Technologies Inc., Calgary Alberta

~ Development and delivery of short courses on technical English, general geology, siliciclastic and carbonate sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, subsurface mapping and cartography and petroleum exploration and development risk analysis. The target audience was a group of Libyan geophysicists from AGIP Libya.

Ironcap Project, Marum Resources Inc.

~ Evaluated a prospect is the Clear Hills, Alberta sedimentary iron deposit which has both gold and diamond production potential and developed a business plan.

Black Butte Project, Marum Resources Inc. 

~ Evaluated Black Butte, Alberta area for potential diamond production. 

Coal Bed Methane Gas Production Potential of the Cee Bee Natural Gas, Inc. Concession, Upper Silesia, Poland, Citadel Engineering Ltd.

~ Assessed natural gas reserve estimates for the Cee Bee Natural Gas Inc. concession in the Rybnik Coal Region, Poland, based on published reports and standard methods.
